Dr. Redmond is originally from Wisconsin and joined Blue Ridge Orthopedics in 2002. He graduated summa cum laude from Ripon College, where he also played four years of varsity football. He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, and completed his orthopedic surgical training at the University of Michigan in 1997. He completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center, where he was a member of the medical staff for the Minnesota Vikings, Timberwolves and Twins.
In 1998, Dr. Redmond received the Young Investigators Award from the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine for best clinical research by a fellow.
Prior to joining Blue Ridge Orthopedic, Dr. Redmond practiced in Battle Creek, Michigan, and was the team orthopedic surgeon for Albion College and the Michigan Battle Cats, a Houston Astros minor league team. As a member of the Blue Ridge sports medicine staff, Dr. Redmond provides care for several area high school and college athletic teams, as well as general orthopedic and trauma care to active persons of all ages. Dr. Redmond serves as team physician for Pickens High School and provides orthopedic coverage for Southern Wesleyan University.
Dr. Redmond is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is also a member of the South Carolina Medical Association. He is also certified in Advanced Cartilage Restoration Techniques, including Carticel Implantation.
